ABSTRACT

One of the main virtues of the Web is interactivity. This is usually interpreted to mean feedback in the form of rollover buttons and animations; while important, interactivity can be implemented on web sites in a much more profound way, to process the information held on a site in response to visitors’ enquiries. As such, this chapter will explore some of the ways in which content can be made truly dynamic on a site, using the common gateway interface (CGI) and scripting.
