ABSTRACT

The structure of review (how it is put together) includes recognition of readiness, exploring and interpreting life events, shaping time, and planning for the future. Review can be involved in: everyday reminiscence; autobiography and biography; oral history; life span development; career planning; counselling; family therapy; and individual psychotherapy. Its status in use by health and social care professionals is examined, with consideration of ethical issues of informed consent, autonomy and competence, ground rules of biography, and authenticity and personal values.
