Get in at Stage One or early Stage Two in the anger cycle (see p. 54). Recognise the early warning signals:

• the voice being raised • agitated body movement • interference in somebody else’s body space • physical repetitive movements such as pacing up and down • muttering and swinging on a chair • screwing up a piece of paper or scribbling on an exercise

book • changes in facial expression such as frowning or sorry looking

eyes • changes in eye contact, either to excessive eye balling or

making no contact at all • sudden change in body language or posture • signs of rapid mood swing.
