It is essential for the survival of any organization to have an adequate inflow of cash. Cash flow planning as opposed to cash flow budgeting is a strategic level activity in which:
• The planning horizon is longer • The uncertainties about future cash inflows and cash outflows are much
greater • The organization should be able to respond, if necessary, to an unex-
pected need for cash. Where could extra cash be obtained and in what amounts?
