ABSTRACT
Although geographically in North Africa, Egypt is the epicenter for all Arab and Middle Eastern music. Cairo is home to the largest recording industry in the Middle East, the musical hub of the region. Cairo has always been the focus of the Arab music world, a very insular world remarkably unaffected by Western culture and outside musical trends.
