ABSTRACT

In Chapters 4 and 5, we learned that we can fill the vector object with either a solid color or a gradient, and this can be applied either as an object's fill or applied to the object stroke. In addition to these two methods to fill our object, there is another method—filling the object with a pattern. As the name implies, patterns are graphic elements that repeat next to each other to create seamless fill for Illustrator artwork. Working with patterns is similar to working with solid color. When you create a pattern, it is added to the Swatches panel.
