ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the best of what Photoshop has to offer. Photoshop’s Free Transform mode is our key tool, allowing us to scale, rotate and distort all our objects. The Free Transform bounding box has eight handles around its perimeter, and each one transforms the layer in a different way. Scaling by dragging a handle will always ‘pin’ the transformation at the opposite corner or side handle. All Photoshop work involves distorting layers — whether it’s simply scaling them so they fit next to each other, or producing complex perspective distortions to match the view in an existing scene. Puppet Warp performs smooth, realistic distortions with ease: it was one of the most significant enhancements introduced in Photoshop CS5. With so many \distortion methods available to the Photoshop artist, the hard part can be deciding which one to use.
