Combining media forms is nothing new. Silent fi lms, for example, interspersed still type frames throughout the movie to deliver dialog and establish context. Th eater organists provided dramatic musical accompaniments. Today’s digital multimedia combines type, image, video and audio through a single platform, such as the Web, a handheld device or DVD.
