ABSTRACT

A good story needs a compelling plot that involves appealing characters living in a believable world. Audiences also anticipate the dramatic tension created by the conflict and want to know what is going to happen next. Without any emotional involvement, a story is reduced to a series of events. Storytellers typically employ a dramatic story structure to determine when certain events will happen to achieve the greatest emotional response from the audience. Voice-over narration is effectively used in The Shawshank Redemption. The story is narrated by an inmate named Red set in a fictional penitentiary in Maine. Animation captivates its audience through the magic of making things move from static images. It is a very dynamic art form with varying artistic styles. Animation can be achieved through traditional animation, stop-motion, and 2D and 3D computer animation. Cutout animation is a technique for creating collaged characters and backgrounds from materials such as paper, fabric, or photographs scanned into the computer.
