ABSTRACT

In film, an editor stitches together various camera shots to create a seamless sequence of events that appear to take place in a certain space for a certain amount of time. All screen movement should be mapped out in the storyboard before production begins. If a character’s screen movements are not planned out properly, the resulting scenes may be a mix of right-to-left and left-to-right opposing movements, which jeopardizes continuity. As long as the camera stays on the front side of the line, the man will be looking screen left and the woman will be looking screen right. One common mistake used in Flash animation is to contain all of the action to one shot. Flash will play back each scene in order from top to bottom as listed in the Scene panel. Once the playhead reaches the last frame of one scene, it automatically jumps to the first frame in the next scene.
