ABSTRACT

To the Roman Catholics it was a rebellion. To Protestants, it was their birth and a reformation in the truest sense of the word. To society it was a revolution. To the Orthodox it was a Roman Catholic problem and had little relevance. No matter what position you hold, the Protestant Reformation certainly changed the Christian Church. If we are to understand and therefore serve the church who worships in the evangelical style we need to understand the reformation. To that end, we will look at the societal forces that made it possible.
