ABSTRACT

The built-in three-dimensional (3D) presets in Photoshop are extendable to let animators add additional 3D objects as Photoshop presets. This chapter discusses the differences between the methods and how to use each to create 3D objects in Photoshop, along with an example or two for each tool. The 3D models in the 3D shapes menu are extendable, similar to other Adobe Photoshop resources such as brushes, actions, and colors. The 3D panel provides various tools for animators' 3D scene properties, such as meshes, lights, and materials. The 3D meshes from the grayscale option allow animators to use a grayscale image as a map that forms their 3D shape. 3D panoramas are one of the commonly used shapes to create a global environment in a 3D scene. The built-in 3D models in Photoshop are 3D Collada DAE format files and are saved in the following path: Local Machine\Program Files\PhotoshopCS5\Presets\ Meshes.
