ABSTRACT

There are several ways to create three dimension (3D) content for After Effects, including native 3D layers, 3D renders, and 3D effects. This chapter explains the issues with creating and using different 3D content, as well as how to overcome some of the resulting problems. It focuses on creating 3D content with Adobe Photoshop Extended as well as the newly bundled Digieffects FreeForm 3D warping and displacement effect. The chapter presents a brief summary of useful third-party 3D plug-ins. Boris Continuum Complete After Effects is an extensive package of plug-ins for After Effects, including several dedicated 3D effects. Zaxwerks excels at efficiently creating motion graphic elements. ProAnimator – available as a stand-alone as well as an After Effects plug-in – is its flagship, offering fancy 3D extrusions as well as easy animation templates and controls.
