ABSTRACT

We are in the dawn of the age of digital cinema. All the things I write about in this book regarding dynamic range and high resolution in film are now available in the digital cinema environment. As of this writing, there are several cameras competing for use in professional motion picture imaging: the ARRI D-20, the Dalsa Origin, the Thompson Viper, the Panavision Genesis camera, and the RED digital cinema camera. This rapid adoption of digital technology into the motion picture field is exhilarating, confusing, and difficult.
