ABSTRACT
Why Your Audio Is More Important than Your Video I said it in my first book, The Shut Up and Shoot Documentary Guide, and I’ll say it again: Your audio is more important than your video.
I realize that this is an earth-shattering concept for some-the equivalent of saying that
aliens really DO exist. However, it’s extremely important to me that everyone I teach actually
gets this concept, as controversial as it may be. Here’s the reality: with most of today’s
generation of prosumer HD cameras, it really isn’t that hard to create beautiful images with just a little bit of knowledge. What you see is what you get. And even if you screw up the
visuals, there are still multiple ways to correct, cover up, or substitute another image, and in
most cases the audience will never know you screwed up.
