ABSTRACT

Three-dimensional (3D) layers and camera were introduced way back in 2001 in After Effects version 5.0, since which time plug-ins have popped up to help users get more from the camera and 3D. Zaxwerks Layer Tools is a 3D workflow tool and a huge time-saver for working with the 3D layers. It simplifies distributing and moving layers in Z-Space without changing their screen size. It allows the user to scale, rotate, and move several layers at once. Digieffects Camera Mapper allows the user to create camera projections from two-dimensional still images by mapping parts of the image onto the 3D solids. Trapcode Horizon allows filmmakers to take spherical maps or panoramic views and move through them in the 3D space using the Comp Camera. Other elements such as text and particles can be mixed into the scene, and they will move with the panoramic scene.
