ABSTRACT

This chapter relives the dream of turning one person into another right within After Effects. Using distortion and warp filters, people can create lively abstract images or simulate disturbing sequences. Most time filters are a distortion or warping of time and help establish mood in a story as well. Plug-ins such as Twixtor, Kronos, and other time-remapping plug-ins, help accentuate and enhance the scene by focusing on specific parts of the footage in slow motion. The Sapphire Distort category is packed with more than 20 distortion effects that can warp, magnify, shake, and transform the footage in various artistic ways not available with plug-ins that ship with After Effects. Present day's morphing plug-ins are much faster and there are two to choose from: Boris Continuum Morph Unit and RE:Vision Effects RE:Flex. Adobe licensed the original algorithm Kronos version 3 from Furnace version 3, which forms the basis for Timewarp inside of After Effects.
