ABSTRACT

This chapter explains how third-party transitions move the viewer from one scene to the next. Although transitions are more often used in nonlinear editors, transitions can take on a whole new level in After Effects as a motion graphics and visual effects tool. PolyChrome Transitions represents the transitional plug-ins in the V2 package, made up of two transition package types that are also sold individually. TRX-Filmic and High-Color Transitions: Traditional film style transitions including blooms, luma and chroma dissolves, blur pans, and camera affects such as focus pull dissolves. These are great for subtler effects where people do not want a loud or obvious transition. CoreMelt Film Blowout Wipe is great for sci-fi transitions between characters or showing a character become another character. Boris Continuum Complete includes several plug-ins for transitioning from one shot to another. Pixelan CreativEase is a set of transition plug-ins for After Effects, which is broken into 12 categories.
