ABSTRACT

The Zone System is a great way to control exposure and development, but when working in the studio with a live model, it is not a very practical way to operate. The model is often asked to quickly modify a pose and the lighting is constantly changed, trying different effects, making the typical model shoot a rather busy and even hectic event. The photographer should do his or her best to provide an environment as relaxed as possible, but asking the model to hold every pose long enough to take shadow and highlight readings cannot be part of it.
