ABSTRACT

Incredible Invasion is an animated short film made in 1999 by Alexander Lentjes and his friend Elmer Kaan as their graduation film for studies in animation. Both Lentjes and co-director Kaan love 1950s low-budget movies, which they also refer to as “badfilm,” with its distinct visual style and zany scriptwriting. “Think Plan 9 from Outer Space, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Cat Women of the Moon, and Invaders from Mars and you get the picture,” said Lentjes. A big part of the popular culture of the 1950s was film and much-loved “grade-B” sci-fi and horror productions. “It wasn’t long before Elmer and I agreed with each other that 3D was the way to go,” said Lentjes, “and boy, were we in for an R&D ride of three-dimensional discovery!” Elmer Kaan, co-producer of Incredible Invasion. https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780240817088/6663636a-b401-4e80-8975-0680cd0011d3/content/fig_3-2_C.jpg" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/>
