Interpreting the Light

Roberto Matta, whose surrealist works created new dimensions by

blending cosmic and organic life forms. A three-dimensional

example is Brion Gysin’s Dreamachine (1960), which utilizes light

to produce a stroboscopic “flicker” effect that generates colors and

visions.
