ABSTRACT
The preceding fi ve chapters discussed theoretical paradigms that have an established history in criminological theory. In this chapter, we review several approaches to the understanding of crime that are currently eliciting considerable attention in the criminological journals. During the past 30 years, integrated theoretical models, criminal careers research, and developmental criminology have emerged as new perspectives.
