ABSTRACT
This conclusory chapter presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the book. The book lays out multiple factors affecting the future of institutions of higher education and provided critical planning steps. It seems apparent with what is happening in the current educational environment that the status quo is no longer enough to guarantee a viable existence for colleges and universities. Lean has a proven track record in manufacturing, industry, and higher education for reducing costs and simplifying processes which saves time, energy, and resources that can be allocated elsewhere. In addition to improving quality, Lean also leads to more productive, engaged, and satisfied employees as well as customers, who in this case are the students. Lean has now been utilized within the higher educational setting and has proven to be very effective.
