ABSTRACT

The development of infrastructures is vital to a country’s economic growth and prosperity. Proper infrastructure leads to the sustainable use of natural resources. The leadership was premised on high task and high relationship activities, and has been successful in positioning Nigeria as a leader in the promotion of democracy and economic growth in Africa. Economic and social infrastructures encompass health and education, hospitals and schools that provide services. The British developed other basic infrastructure services, such as electricity in a few major cities, minimal health and education services, and simple communication structures to support the colonial administration. The infrastructure that the British colonial administration put in place in the 1800s was designed in Britain and aimed at facilitating increased imports from Africa. The National Economic Council, which had been established in 1955, and the representatives of the British government, continued to play a coordinating role.
