ABSTRACT
This chapter empirically explores various influences that underpin the policy decision processes on energy and how they shape transition in energy infrastructure provision and use within the Nigerian context. It highlights some salient intra-country influences on energy and how they impact on energy governance within the electricity sector. It also draws special attention to some inter-country influences and how they shape Nigeria’s energy infrastructure choices. It presents and compares how these influences affect electricity supply in other neighbouring West African countries.
