ABSTRACT

When people experience kama muta, they often have a warm feeling in the heart, have moist eyes or shed tears, get goosebumps or chills, become choked-up, and place a hand on their heart. They may feel buoyant (light) or energized. Sometimes they say something like ‘Aww!’ It may be that the metaphors in many languages that characterize a kind, generous, compassionate person as ‘warm’ or ‘warm-hearted’ are derived from the kama muta sensation of warmth in the chest.
