ABSTRACT

The concluding chapter highlights the major findings of the study and considers prospects for great power relations. The chapter lists several factors related to Big3 affairs that this author believes should be watched closely. Central among these are: (1) leadership dynamics, especially, leader attributes and changes in the country’s top leadership; (2) overall domestic stability; (3) the military/security dimension of ongoing conflicts; and (4) the role of “third parties” (e.g., India, Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela) in triangular politics. Can the Big3 manage their conflicts and prevent escalation? The study concludes with a broad charge to the great powers to “work to transform Big3 interrelationships” and offers specific policy recommendations in that vein.
