ABSTRACT
This chapter surveys the landscape of contemporary international affairs, with special attention to key actors, issues, and events and trends. The fulcrum of global power and influence has been shifting southward and eastward, even before the end of the Cold War period. In addition, ours is a world that, to this author, is increasingly “crisis-prone.” What does this mean? This chapter explores such developments in the context of the strategic triangle.
