ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the contours of US foreign policy during the Donald J. Trump era. After providing an overview of his ascent to political power, the chapter illustrates the way in which the Trump presidency served as a major departure in terms of the country’s domestic and foreign affairs. Finally, the chapter discusses Mr Trump’s continuing dominance over the Republican Party and the American political arena, generally. If he were to compete and prevail in the country’s upcoming (2024) presidential election, there would certainly be major implications for relations among the great powers and beyond.
