ABSTRACT

The two practices developed by philosopher and psychologist Eugene Gendlin, focusing and thinking at the edge (TAE), form the foundation of both the felt sense polyvagal model (FSPM) and the writing of this book. In this chapter, the author offers a detailed explanation of each process, guiding the reader through the 6 steps of focusing and the 14 steps of TAE. A sample focusing session and an explanation of how the author uses TAE in the writing of this book offer examples of these experiential processes.
