ABSTRACT
Anne Kauffman has worked on and off Broadway and at some of the most prestigious regional theatres in America, including Steppenwolf and the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. Anne Kauffman has delved into musical theatre as well, directing Assassins and Working: A Musical for Encores! Off Center. Early in her career, Anne Kauffman developed interest in directing new plays and fostering new play development, and she has worked with some of the most successful and interesting playwrights, including Amy Herzog, Annie Baker, Anne Washburn, Gina Gionfriddo, John Patrick Shanley, and others. She is a founding member of The Civilians, where she worked creating original plays that combined interviews, journalism, historical data, and art. She is also part of Clubbed Thumb.
