ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the reader to the book’s topic, the questions it addresses, its arguments, and analytical framework. The purpose is to position the book within existing national and international climate debates and academic discussions. Chapter 1 also explains the rationale behind the selection of Lofoten and Yasuní and their usefulness as contrasting cases. Then, it briefly discusses the inquiry’s methodology and the data the analysis rests on. Finally, it presents the book’s outline.
