ABSTRACT

More than one-quarter of the book of Exodus is fully devoted to every detail of how to build the tabernacle—down to the materials, colors, and dimensions; from the use of ram skins, acacia wood, and gold overlays, to how to make the ark, the lampstands, and the sockets for the pillars. These instructions were followed scrupulously by Moses, and at the dedication of the tabernacle, the Scripture describes the following outcome: “The cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the lord filled the tabernacle. Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the lord filled the tabernacle”. Later, when Solomon established the first permanent temple, he too faithfully followed the pattern as given by God to his father David. The fact that the visible manifestation of God’s glory was associated with His temple in three dispensations signals.
