ABSTRACT
This Introduction sets the methodological context for the study: the understanding of my arrival and reception during the fieldwork, the initial contacts I made, and how people felt about me at the field sites. The narratives in this chapter revolve around these questions: What are the transformations taking place among Bangladeshi Americans in the US, particularly in Southern California? What do these transformations tell us about the constitution of Bangladeshi Americans in the process of global encounters?
