ABSTRACT
This chapter is about what is unique to the field of early childhood education and what is unique about early childhood teacher research. It sets the stage for the rest of the book by defining what is meant by early childhood teacher research and giving reasons for doing it, including support from professional literature on the topic. Examples of real early childhood teachers and their teacher research studies help bring the topics to life and help acclimate readers to the book.
