ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on infant and toddler emotional regulation and expression, and how expressing emotions is a way that these children send messages and connect to other people. It also becomes the foundation of their personality development. Emphasis is placed on the direction connection between emotional development and infants and toddlers’ attachments and socialization experiences. Since infants and toddlers learn a great deal from their interactions with other people, caregiver strategies for connection, emotional expression and emotional regulation are described.
