ABSTRACT

“What shall I do with all the books I have gathered over the years?” This is a question often asked of librarians, and unfortunately the answer is not always as easy as it might seem to be. Some random comments, then, concerning this question. To begin with, not every collection of books has value, and not every collection is a welcome gift in a library or anywhere else. There are some things that can be said, however, about what might be done when one wishes to unburden oneself of one’s books.
