ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a primary triads singing exercise designed to take through arpeggiations of the primary triads through voice leading from a pedal tonic on the I and IV triads, down a half step to the leading tone on the dominant, and back to tonic. It includes a triad quality singing exercise requiring singing of all four triad qualities by making one half step change on each triad indicated by the arrow in the notation. The chapter provides a seventh chord quality singing exercise requiring to sing all five seventh-chord qualities by making one half step change on each triad. It also presents major scale number patterns indicating scale degrees in a major key.
