ABSTRACT

A media server’s primary purpose is to play video content in a show. Therefore, the server has to have some digital content on it. All digital content comes from one of these sources: stock content loaded on the server, content provided by a client, content purchased from a content provider, and content created from scratch. Because the stock content is not intended to be copied from the computer, most manufacturers have media locks on all stock content to prevent the misuse of its legally purchased content. This content will already be properly formatted for use with the server and may include both still images and video clips. There are many important factors in the creation process that have a direct impact on the playback performance of a piece of content. They include: image resolution, image compression, format, frame rate, color depth. All media servers are optimized to perform to the manufacturer’s specification provided the readers do their part.
