ABSTRACT

Lead time is the time span between the point of time when actual services are performed and that when an order was placed for services. It may be associated with service as well as production operations. Lead time role has been explained thoroughly in production and associated service operations. Numerous examples and cases have been provided for a wide variety of industries such as fabrication among others. These also include existing lead time analysis and its reduction. An exhaustive case has been included considering the transformer manufacturing industry. Additionally, different types of interactions have been described. The management should pay attention to resolve the differences of opinions and objectives, and an effort should be made to eliminate or reduce interdepartmental conflicts presently found in the organization.
