ABSTRACT

With the ReducedEffort Changeover (REC) system, because the effort of the Changeover Experts is reduced and because they are involved in the entire process, they have ownership of the new standard operating procedure (SOP). Management, then, needs to support the way the Changeover Experts have decided to do it. The Changeover Experts who attended the REC Event continue to perform the new SOP that was derived from the process. A coach stands behind them during the changeover, reading aloud the list of tasks until the changeover operators have it memorized. The Changeover Experts record the changeover downtime for the revised SOP. This information is brought to the changeover meeting, where it is shared with the team. The best way to perform a changeover was found during the REC Event. This new SOP is the best way.
