ABSTRACT

Meetings were held with Mark’s staff and names were submitted for the Green Belt, Black Belt, and Master Black Belt positions, as well as the Six Sigma Deployment Leader. Mark approved all of the recommendations, except for the Master Black Belt. He then met with Sam Plankton, the HR Manager to discuss training requirements. The two decided to have a conference call with the American Society for Quality (ASQ) to discuss training options. The ASQ offered two different training alternatives with one being ASQ would send a trainer or trainers to their manufacturing plant and provide the necessary training for Green and Black Belts, or have the trainees come to their headquarters for training. Mark and Sam decided that they would do the training in-house. They also decided that because of the length of time required to become a Master Black Belt, they would attempt to hire one, hopefully with experience in the tire industry.
