ABSTRACT

The density range of a negative needs to be matched to the process, whether it is produced via traditional film or through digital output by ink-jet printing. A variety of options are suggested including making traditional film negatives and wet development, or digitally captured images output to digitally printed film, or a combination of these. There is some discussion also of the relationship between subject brightness, exposure, development (for film), and Photoshop adjustments (for digital), along with inkjet printing processes.
