ABSTRACT

Homo sapiens is the most successful animal species to have ever lived on this planet. While our physical frame prevents us from achieving individual feats which match other animals (we are not as strong as a horse, nor as fleet-footed as a cheetah, nor do we have the sight of a hawk nor the hearing of a gazelle) our physique is such that in a compound manner we are a very successful, adaptable, general purpose animal. We have one major advantage over all other animals; we walk on our hind limbs, thereby releasing our fore limbs for other functions (see page 30).
