ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces some key issues in adolescent multilingual writing research and pedagogy, including tensions between in-school and out-of-school writing practices that many adolescent multilingual students experience. It also unpacks the term adolescent multilingual writing and explains some unique characteristics of several groups of adolescent multilingual students (e.g., long-term English learners, refugees, transnational immigrants, and international students), followed by the objectives and organization of the book.
