ABSTRACT

It is necessary at this point to resist the temptation to set down at once the attractive classifition of ‘endocrine personalities’ outlined by Dr. Louis Berman in his book, ‘The Glands regulating Personality’ In juxtaposition to the tables of Stewart and Richerand, given above, Dr. Berman’s classification might be used to emphasize either the continuity of the type idea, or the contrast in physiological basis on which it is supposed to rest. But the value of such emphasis would at this stage tend merely to falsify the conception of the value of modern research on the endocrine glands. It would reduce to another mere speculative hypothesis work which though far from complete can justly claim to be considered on the basis of an exact science.
