ABSTRACT

This guide to technology education for student teachers and teachers offers a comprehensive insight into the unique nature of technology education in the New Zealand context. It provides insight into the philosophy of technology underpinning Technology in the New Zealand curriculum and a rationale for its inclusion. The book also describes classroom implementation and practice. A special feature of the book is the dual narrative used to explore two students' journeys through their technology education schooling. Running parallel to this narrative are various technology teachers' commentaries. The teacher commentary makes explicit links to teacher thinking and theory, and explains planned student practice. The aim of the dual narrative is to explore the nature of technology education in an alternative way.
