ABSTRACT

In order to undertake a critical assessment of the performance of the project, it is necessary to refer to the Logical Framework Analysis that had laid down, at the time of the formulation of the project, the intended outcomes or the results to be achieved. It had also stipulated some success indicators to assess the quality of the outcomes. The projected outcomes were divided into four categories: environmental, economic, social and institutional. Interactions with the Bhil indicated that the watershed project had created opportunities for income from both on-farm and off-farm activities. The increase in off-farm activities has meant that the income of a Bhil household in the watershed area is no longer dependent on agricultural activities. A critical component of the watershed project was the association of civil society intermediaries in the conceptualisation, formulation and implementation of the project.
