ABSTRACT

There is no greater offence than a woman killing her husband. Maybe that applies in other societies as well, but in India it is a sin of the worst kind and unforgivable, apart from being a (legal) crime and therefore unpardonable. Hasina is guilty of just such an offence (and sin), and even if she is released after serving her legal punishment, she is unlikely to find any release from the stigma that will pursue her and form part of her moral punishment for the rest of her life.
