ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book explores and bring together the ‘wonderful worlds of PR and IR theory’. It is an invitation to ask “keep asking” questions, which in the end is the hallmark of any critical (re)imaginations of world politics. Qatar similarly remains (in) a state well worth watching. As 2022, the year when the (football) world’s attention will turn to the small sheikhdom, approaches, preparations as well as changes are underway in the Gulf. The critical research agenda on branding could be further extended by adopting alternative theoretical starting points. Importantly, these could come either from within the discipline or from more extensive interdisciplinary work. Quite the contrary, nation-branding is a serious political practice that demands critical attention.
